PRESS RELEASE – Virtual Meeting of Bridging Sri Lankan IT Sector with UAE Market

The virtual meeting was organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Abu Dhabi UAE, Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Dubai and the Northern Emirates UAE together with Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), Sri Lankan Business Council (SLBC), Sri Lankan Professionals Association in UAE, and Sri Lankan IT Professionals Association in UAE under the topic “Bridging Sri Lankan IT Sector with UAE Market” on Friday 11 June 2021.

More than 130 participants attended this event over 50 IT Companies from Sri Lanka.

The opening speech was delivered by Mr. Suresh De Mel the Chairman of EDB while all the participants were welcomed by H.E. Ambassador to UAE Mr. Malraj De Silva.

Mr. Suren Swaminathan the current Chairman of Sri Lankan business Council and Mr. Farook Kassim, Managing Director at Albogari Holdings, UAE speak about their business experience in UAE.

Mr Ramesh Shanmuganathan Executive Vice President / Group Chief Information Officer of John Keels Holdings PLC shared their experience and ideas dealing with the UAE market. Mr. Dhammika Gamage Chairman of Sri Lankan Professionals Association UAE address the gathering by highlighting the role of Sri Lankan Professionals Association in UAE and explain how Sri Lankan IT Professionals Association established in UAE.

The main presentation of the event “IT Market opportunities in UAE” and “UAE Business Model for Sri Lankan IT industries” was done by Mr. Aruchunarajan Arumugam, Secretary, SLITPA, UAE, and Mr. Siraj M Lebbai, Head of Business Development Sub Committee of SLITPA, UAE.

Hon. Consul General Dubai and the Northern Emirates Mr. Nalinda Wijerathna concluded the event with the closing remark.
